Reverse Engineering Concept Car for Game integration

Brought the Audi Skysphere to the Virtual World from the first day it was revealed. Transforming concept to playable reality, this project adapted the car game environments.
I was challenging my computational and generative design skills to reproduce a digital copy of that still non existent concept idea.

Task

Reverse engineer the Skysphere concept car. Extract and analyze design elements from a few available images. Recreate 3D and optimize it for seamless integration into a gaming engine.

What value
did i add ?

I took an unbuilt concept and made it playable. The Audi Skysphere existed only as renders and cinematic clips, but I reverse-engineered its design and recreated it in 3D, making it compatible with game engines.

This wasn’t just about modeling—I had to analyze every design cue, estimate proportions, and reconstruct materials and mechanisms from mere visual references. By optimizing the model for real-time engines, I ensured it was lightweight yet visually accurate, fit for interactive experiences.

The Problem
I was solving.

Recreate an ultra-futuristic car in 3D using minimal source material—and make it game-ready.

  1. Concept cars rarely make it to games: Most remain in design studios, never adapted for interactive use.
  2. Lack of reference material: The Skysphere wasn’t publicly available—I had to rely on renders and promotional videos.
  3. Balancing detail with real-time performance: High-quality visuals needed to be optimized for smooth gameplay.
